This is Benkei’s famous roppo exit in the kabuki dance-drama Kanjinchō, performed by Matsumoto Kōshirō VIII in November of 1943 at the Kabuki-za theatre in Tokyo. He was 72 years old, having been a student of the legendary actor Ichikawa Danjūrō IX during the Meiji period, as well as the son of the dance master Fujima Kan’emon II.

弁慶役者だった七代目松本幸四郎は今の十三代目市川團十郎、十代目松本幸四郎、四代目尾上松緑の高祖父にあたる歌舞伎役者さんです、この前芸能きわみ堂の正月特集でラジオで放送された勧進帳の音声を聞きました!
さすが幸四郎の弁慶とまで言わせた役者！成田屋の弁慶より好きです。
